Roland Rotz, Ph.D.
Roland Rotz, Ph.D. is a licensed child and adult psychologist, director of the Lifespan Development Center in Carpinteria, CA, and a nationally recognized expert on ADHD. The author of Fidget to Focus, Dr. Rotz specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD and co-occuring conditions. He has been practicing psychological assessment for over thirty years. Currently, he also trains doctoral students and post-doctoral candidates for licensure in the practice of psychological assessment. In addition, Dr. Rotz offers couples therapy and treatment for depression, anxiety, and trauma. His dual experience offering psychotherapy and psychological assessments gives him special insight into the complex interplay between learning or attention differences and emotional functioning. It also heightens his capacity to communicate results from assessments in a therapeutic manner. Dr. Rotz lectures on ADHD nationally and locally.
Woodwyn Koons, Psy.D.
Woodwyn Koons, Psy.D. (she/her) is a licensed psychologist. An experienced psychological assessor of children and young adults, she holds a research interest in dyslexia. Dr. Koons has wide-ranging psychotherapy experience, treating those suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, and personality disorders, employing a relational psychoanalytical approach. Specializing in depression, Dr. Koons wrote her dissertation about depression in young adults who are navigating the transition to adulthood. She performed her internship with HIV+ people at the non-profit Philadelphia FIGHT in Philadelphia, PA, where she was honored to treat LGBTQ+ patients and others who had a variety of concerns, from relationship issues to gender concerns to complex childhood trauma. She has worked for University of Pennsylvania’s Counseling and Psychological Services Center with college and graduate students, and on inpatient units with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
Amanda Carter, Psy.D
Amanda Carter, Psy.D. (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY34459) who specializes in the assessment of children including neurodevelopmental disorders (such as ADHD, learning disabilities, autism) and psychological issues (such as anxiety, depression, oppositional defiance, bipolar disorder, OCD). Dr. Carter utilizes a strengths-based, integrative approach to evaluation, striving to provide families with a better understanding of their whole child. She completed her APA Accredited Internship at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center where she had the opportunity to work with patients across the lifespan for psychotherapy and testing. She is an adjunct professor of assessment and biopsychology in the clinical psychology doctoral programs at Cal Lutheran University and Pacifica University. Dr. Carter also has a special interest in working with children and adults experiencing medical as well as psychological conditions and has an expertise in the field of Health Psychology.
Robin Niederpruem
Robin Niederpruem is the Office Administrator for Lifespan Development Center and the Personal Assistant to Dr. Roland Rotz. She handles all the day to day workings of the office including scheduling appointments, bookkeeping, and answering general questions about the services provided at Lifespan Development Center.
